Moss Removal

Moss Removal planned around your property

Skycrest Roofing Ltd offers roof moss removal across Manchester and surrounding areas. Cleaning methods need to suit the roof covering and its condition; we discuss a suitable approach before work begins and check associated guttering.

Moss is not, by itself, proof that a roof needs replacement. Growth can obscure defects and debris can collect in gutters or drainage paths. The roof covering and access risks should be assessed before selecting a cleaning method, especially where tiles are cracked, surfaces are fragile or the material is uncertain.

Aggressive cleaning can damage some roof surfaces or force water beneath the covering. A suitable approach should follow the covering manufacturer's guidance and account for existing condition. Suspected asbestos-containing materials require specialist assessment rather than ordinary roof cleaning. Do not scrape or pressure-wash an uncertain material yourself.

Ask how removed debris will be contained, how gutters will be checked afterwards and what precautions apply to plants, neighbouring property and drainage. If a chemical treatment is proposed, its suitability and handling requirements need explaining. Cleaning does not restore failed fixings, repair a leak or guarantee that growth will never return.
